Jose's web pages reflect his passion for the "King of Instruments" the violin, but you will also discover wonderful facts about the whole stringed instrument family. Together with informative lists and information about individual instruments, their past and present owners and their history. Have a look to The Way Famous String Instruments Went.
There is also what is now, a very successful page, devoted to the great English cellist Jacqueline du Pre.
Jose Sanchez and I have recently collaborated on a joint project. We have established a database of Discography of Famous Instruments used in Recordings. A list of recordings where the violin being used to make the recording has been named.
In his book "The Iconography of Stradivarius violins" Goodkind collected information on the origins and present day whereabouts of all known Stradivarius violins. Jose Sanchez and I have combined our resources to produce a database of recordings made with famous violins - Strads, Del Gesu and other fine violins. Not only can you read in Goodkind's book where these Strads are now, but you can hear them and other top violins by refering to our database. This database is available for viewing now. Go there and have a look at the page. But before you go have a look through your record collection to see if any of the sleeves or CD covers detail which violin the soloist used to make the recording. Any information you can supply to the database will be credited with your name. There is a direct link to Jose's site from this site.
All very good reasons for visiting Jose's page.
